Thoughts from the Board of Trustees Chair

For the Board of Trustees springtime at FUUSE. means it’s pledging season and budget season and recruiting season. I want to thank all Board members for diligently attending extra meetings and for working outside of those meetings as well to accomplish all that needs to be done before the end of the church year.

At this writing we are still looking to reduce a $10,000 deficit and achieve a balanced budget. You should have received a mailing with a letter detailing the current pledge situation and containing a “booster card” enabling you to increase your pledge. It is never too late to make a contribution and help FUUSE close up this deficit.

I would like to thank Jim Schlough for his tireless work this year. In addition to his role as Past-Chair of the Board, Jim has chaired the Annual Pledge Drive and created a stewardship program that will help keep the congregation connected throughout the church year. Jim has been my mentor for the last two years — please don’t blame him for any of my mistakes.

The Board will have its work cut out for it in the coming months and years as the draft version of the FUUSE strategic plan has been completed. Tish Lewis served as the Board representative to the Strategic Planning Group (SPG) this year and functioned as an SPG team member, attending all meetings and creating a strong connection between that group and the FUUSE Board. The plan will be in good hands when Tish takes over as Board Chair in July.

Finally thanks to the Strategic Planning Group and Jan Williams for all of their work to get congregational input and put together the strategic plan. The SPG will be disbanding shortly. Now the work falls on the Board and the congregation — we will all need to pitch in to implement this plan
