College friends convinced me to join one of these social networking pages. And for a while I didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. Then I started getting messages from college friends I had lost touch with. Before long there were even messages from a couple of people from high school who I had liked but lost track of in all my moving. It’s been sweet to see these old friends in their adult lives, sometimes with children now. And it’s been a wonderful reminder of how connected and inter-connected we are, much more than we ever recognize. The ending of the church year and the school year tug at those webs of connection — the networks that hold us most of the year loosen and others become more noticeable, particularly the green and wild world.
May you spend your summer noticing: noticing your life, noticing the body you live in and the things you do all day, and the way you do them, and notice how much you are woven into this world.
This is the end of my seventh year! How is that possible?! I am profoundly fortunate to have this ministry with you. I have learned a tremendous amount about ministry and life serving this congregation for these 7 years. And I hope that you feel as good about our work together.
I must say I am grateful for a rest this summer. And I look forward to year 8; I am excited to see how we will grow, in soul and sense of self, and how we will understand our shared ministry in fresh ways.
Summer Schedule: With our last formal service on June 15th, regular office hours will continue through June 20th. I will be on vacation until July 14 and on Study Leave until mid August. During that time I will only be available in emergencies and an emergency contact number will be on the out-going message in my voice mail.
