I have been thinking this year about all the changes we have made in the Religious Education Community over the last three years and I am so excited and proud. We have moved the Children’s Religious Education Committee to a council model, we have worked on my job description, recruited new members to the adult education committee, trained leadership, doubled the volunteers in all the programs, and written a safe congregation policy all while knitting together a committed community of hard-working, fun-loving, individuals and families.
This is the work that gets me up in the morning saying “Hey, what will this day bring me?” Work should be a joy, and it is a joy to work here. For that I thank the following: Joy Bicknell for helping me iron out my visions; the Religious Education Committees for staying on track (with humor no less); and all the volunteers it takes to run this sprawling, mid-sized program! Special mention goes to Frank Merrick and Sarah James for heading up Team FUUSEion and Age of Reason respectively. We did great work and I know even better things are ahead for next year. But for now, take a moment and bask in the knowledge that this year was good and that you were an important part of it.
