The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter (FUUSE), in Exeter NH, is looking for a dynamic part-time Music Director, averaging 18 hours per week, beginning in September 2023 for the church year which ends in June 2024.
We are a music loving congregation seeking a new Music Director at a time of transition. We presently have an interim minister, and we will welcome a new settled minister in the fall of 2024. Music Director responsibilities include creatively developing and implementing a multi-generational, multi-platform music program that supports the mission of FUUSE. We seek to hire one person, or potentially two people to split choir and accompanist duties, with strong interpersonal skills to inspire and engage the congregation as both listeners and participants, while working collaboratively with the Minister and the Music Committee to provide the musical component of weekly and two Christmas Eve services.

Worship-related tasks include collaborating with the minister, and weekly rehearsing and directing the choir which performs two Sundays per month. Applicants should have expertise with piano accompaniment and performance in a variety of musical styles, choir directing and rehearsing experience, and strong interpersonal skills to work with volunteer musicians and build community by encouraging church members to grow together through music making.

This is a part time exempt position averaging 18 hours per week. 5 Sundays off between September and June. Compensation for combined position: $20,300 salary, with benefits including sick time, health and dental, long-term disability and life insurance, and professional development. Salary and benefits for a split position to be determined based on how the hours are proportioned. There are additional opportunities to provide other related services such as performing at weddings, funerals, fund-raisers etc.
